> ΕDUCATION / SPECIAL PROGRAMMES
According to the principles in our Educational Model, we design and implement Special Programmes that conform to our beliefs: they promote Knowledge, Skills and Values, thereby making the school more Creative, more Pleasant, more Useful and more Effective.
As a social and emotional development programme, Life Skills focus on the special needs of children in each age group. It complements academic knowledge and skills by introducing activities in Kindergarten, Primary School, Jr. and Sr. High School (Lyceum) which refer to values like friendship, respect, diversity, etc. and feelings experienced by children in school. At the same time, suggestions are made so that students learn how to manage their emotions, enhance their self-confidence and self-esteem and establish boundaries when cooperating and interacting with others.
In Primary School, Jr. High School and Sr. High School (Lyceum), each student is assigned a Mentor. The purpose of the Mentor is to help each student discover the goals they want to set, identify the necessary steps to achieve them and develop an integrated and more confident personality.
Healthy Body-Healthy Living
The Healthy Body-Healthy Living programme is implemented in Kindergarten, Primary School, Jr. High School and Sr. High School (Lyceum) by the Department of Physical Education in collaboration with other academic institutions. Its purpose is to develop a sustainable strategy on health issues. The main goals are to improve the eating habits of children, to provide increased opportunities for sports and to support students in wellness issues by recommending specific activities tailored to each age group.
‘1:1 Computing’ - One Computer per Student
Since 2007, our School has implemented the innovative and pioneering methodology ‘1:1 Computing – Educational Model 1:1’ – One computer per student not only in Greece but also at the international level. This Model focuses on the use of technology in the educational process. Beginning in Grade 4 of the Primary School to Grade 9 in Jr. High School, our students use their computers daily in school and at home. Students become participants in their own learning while the teachers become partners and mentors, creating experiential and teamwork activities. Instruction becomes individualised, multiple representations are supported, research is promoted as is the search for information. In this creative learning tool, we have integrated books (our own as well as the Ministry’s), rich digital content, interactive applications, etc. The Student Computer does not replace books and notebooks but is an auxiliary tool alongside other educational tools and teaching aids. The aim is to equip our students with the necessary 21st Century Skills that will enable them to exploit the possibilities offered by technology in all areas.
Clubs & Groups
Clubs and Groups are useful in enriching our educational programme by offering a wide range of activities that meet the interests, talents and special skills of each child.
In our basic educational programme in the Kindergarten, Primary School and Jr. High School, Clubs enable students to discover new knowledge, interests and talents, thanks to teamwork and experiential activities in a variety of topics.
Our Groups operate during the afternoon programme in the Primary School and Jr. & Sr. High Schools (Lyceum). The programme includes various topics of interest with corresponding activities for each age level to further develop the knowledge and skills of our students.
